Brake Repair Council Bluffs

Brake Repair Technician AAMCO Council BluffsBrake pads don't last forever, and depending on your driving habits yours will need to be replaced sooner or later. There are two ways to tell when it's time to bring your car in for brake service:

  • You Hear a Strange Sound: A high-pitched screeching means that your brake pads have worn down past the wear indicator, and this noise is a warning that it's time to replace them. A grinding or scraping sound, however, indicates that you may have rotor damage, and if you hear this noise you should bring your car in for immediate rotor resurfacing or replacement, depending on the extent of the damage.
  • Your Pads Are Less than 1/4 Inch Thick: Once your brake pads wear down past this depth, you should replace them soon. If they wear down to less than 1/8 inch in thickness, you will likely damage the rotor.

Always be sure to have your brakes serviced regularly to avoid costly repairs and stay safe on the road.

Brake System Service
The brakes are among the most critical components of the safety system in your vehicle, whether it's a sedan, a pickup, a station wagon, a sports car, or an SUV. To make sure that you can brake properly and to avoid expensive damage, schedule routine brake maintenance and inspections with AAMCO of Council Bluffs. One of our technicians will inspect your brake pads and shoes, rotor and drum, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, calipers, hoses, hydraulic fluids, anti-lock system, and other brake hardware.

Screeching or scraping sounds, or any other noises you hear when braking, indicate that your brakes may be close to failure. A brake pedal that sinks to the floor and a brake warning light that won't go out are other signs that you should bring your car in for brake maintenance.

When you bring your car to AAMCO for Brake System Service, we will:

  • Replace any worn shoes or pads
  • Repack the wheel bearings when necessary
  • Resurface or replace the rotors/drums as needed
  • Replace other worn components
  • Refresh your brake fluid
  • Lubricate all other parts that require it
  • Tune your emergency brake
  • Take your car for a test drive to make sure the brakes are working well
